Rhode Island Work Permit Instructions
The Intent to Employ is the first step to the work permit process.
There is an intent for 14-15 year olds and 16-17 year olds. Students can either pick up the appropriate intent from our guidance suite or print from the below link.
Intent forms must be filled out completely.
The employer must fill out lines 3-9. A parent or guardian must complete the rest and the form must be signed by the employer as well as a parent or guardian.
Once the intent is complete, have the student bring the intent to Mrs. Auclair in our School Counseling Office who will then complete the work permit.
For students who are requesting a work permit but do not attend Mt. Hope High School, they will need to bring in a birth certificate, passport or something from their school to verify their age, birthdate and current school year.
**If the student is hired for a job in Massachusetts, they must go to a Massachusetts high school
for the work permit**
